I still remember the first time I got a <div> to sit exactly where I wanted it. It was 2010, I was working as a web integrator at Artifex in Tunisia, wrestling with CSS floats and Full DIV layouts long before Flexbox and Grid made our lives easier. It wasn’t glamorous work, but there was something addictive about it — the puzzle of turning a static design into something alive in a browser.

That puzzle-solving instinct has stayed with me for over a decade now, even as the puzzles themselves have completely changed shape.

The Long Way Around

My path into tech wasn’t a straight line from a prestigious CS program to a dream job. I trained in Computer Technology at the Institut Supérieur d’Informatique, picked up a Java certificate along the way, and later went back to school for an applied license in ICT while I was already working. In parallel, I spent four years as a programmer-analyst for Tunisia’s Ministry of Commerce, learning what it means to build software inside a large, slow-moving institution — and then two years freelancing, learning the opposite lesson: what it means to build software when you’re the only safety net you’ve got.

Both experiences taught me the same thing in different ways: technology is never really about the code. It’s about the people and the constraints around it.

Finding My Craft in eCommerce

In 2018, I moved to Paris and my career took a turn that would define the next several years: I specialized in Salesforce Commerce Cloud. Since then, I’ve had the privilege of working on the digital storefronts of some of the most recognizable luxury and fashion houses in the world — RIMOWA, MAKE UP FOR EVER, Kering, Maison Francis Kurkdjian, and Guerlain, where I spent nearly three years deep in the architecture of a global beauty brand’s B2C platform.

There’s a particular kind of pressure that comes with building for luxury eCommerce: the tolerance for friction is close to zero, and the bar for polish is sky-high. I learned to move fast without breaking the experience, to work across time zones and disciplines, and to hold both the frontend (React, JavaScript, jQuery) and backend pieces of a platform in my head at once.

Today, I continue that work at Niji, where I’ve been a Salesforce Commerce Cloud Developer since April 2025.

Chasing the Next Curve

What keeps me energized after ten-plus years isn’t repetition — it’s the opposite. I’ve always been drawn to whatever comes next. Right now, that’s agentic AI and automation. I’ve been building AI-powered workflows and content pipelines, exploring Retrieval-Augmented Generation and prompt engineering, and thinking seriously about how large language models can become genuine collaborators in a developer’s workflow rather than just autocomplete.

It doesn’t feel like a detour from my eCommerce career — it feels like the same instinct that got me into web development in the first place: a fascination with new tools, and the patience to actually learn how they work under the hood.

What I’m About

If I had to sum myself up, I’d say: rigorous but fast, comfortable in cross-functional and geographically distributed teams, and always self-training toward whatever technology is emerging next — blockchain a few years ago, generative and agentic AI today.
